In a smart city, we live and work in a healthy and sustainable environment with constant connectivity
Cities are our future. In 2050, more than 70% of the world’s population will live in a city. This means that we now face enormous challenges. How will we ensure our cities remain both accessible and liveable for so many people? How exactly will we implement the energy transition? And how will we maintain the efficiency and availability of our infrastructure?
In a smart city, we live and work in a healthy and sustainable living environment with constant connectivity. BAM is shaping such smart cities – by working on innovative, sustainable and integrated solutions that really do add value. And we are doing so in our own unique way, employing strategies that are just that little bit different, and just that little bit smarter.
Using our ‘Four Smart Steps’ programme, we work towards creating pleasant living environments that function in the way your senses do, that are capable of learning, and that are all about interactions with residents, users and the surroundings. We plan cities in which parking is no challenge at all, in which sustainable energy is shared, and in which buildings make a contribution to the air being clean. But how can we make these dreams a reality?
We want to live, work and recreate in healthy, sustainable and connected cities. How can this be achieved? This is something that we at BAM enjoy thinking about. And we like to do so in collaboration with you, whether you are a client, knowledge institute, government authority or start-up. If we are to get any closer to creating smart cities, we will need to co-create so that we can then devise efficient and effective solutions.
Sharing knowledge, information and data is key. But it’s not just about sharing data platforms and connectivity: we need to understand the wishes and needs of end users. BAM sees the creation of smart cities as a journey we embark on together. Our mantra is ‘learning by doing’, and taking the right decisions now to help build the smart cities of the future. The ultimate goal? Attractive cities and happy people.
You can’t build a smart city in a day, and there are many roads that lead to one too. BAM has already mapped out three possible routes. As is often the case on a journey, these routes intersect with each other, which forges strong connections between them.
