Property developer AM, in collaboration with housing association Bergopwaarts, is set to develop two new green residential neighbourhoods in the municipality of Deurne. The municipality and AM have formalised the previously agreed plans by signing a preliminary agreement for both developments. The Groene Heerlijkheid and Grote Bottel projects will bring a total of 647 homes to Deurne, with a significant portion dedicated to social housing, first-time buyers, and middle-income households.
A shared planning philosophy has been applied to the urban design of both developments, which are located approximately 300 metres apart. The neighbourhoods are climate-adaptive, nature-inclusive, and contribute positively to biodiversity, ensuring ample space for plants and wildlife. Hard surfaces have been minimised, and the streetscape is designed to prioritise liveability over car use. The outdoor areas encourage people of all ages to spend time outside. By making climate, energy, and biodiversity measures visible, residents become more aware of their environment and are inspired to apply similar principles to their own properties. Both urban plans have been designed by the architectural firm CB5.
