Nieuwegein takes big step towards gas-free living: BAM Wonen delivers 20 all-electric homes

A great milestone has been reached in Nieuwegein: BAM Wonen has delivered 20 fully sustainable rental homes to CBRE Investment Management. The 1985 homes were not only revamped but also made future-proof. From energy label B/C to A+++ - that's a giant leap!

Bianca Hollander of CBRE IM: “This collaboration with BAM means we are taking another big step towards our goal of reducing emissions from our real estate by 2030”.

The residents now live in comfortable, all-electric houses. Think about heat pumps in the attic, solar panels on the roof, induction hobs in the kitchen and smart ventilation that adjusts to air quality. All without compromising space or living comfort.

BAM's Sustainability Project Manager Chester Spapens : "The residents' survey showed that the neighborhood was eager to get off the gas. We are happy that we can meet that need - for now and for the residents of the future. With this project, we are fulfilling our mission 'Building a sustainable tomorrow', which focuses on sustainability, digitalisation and industrialisation."

The completion of a total of 46 houses to be made more sustainable in Nieuwegein is scheduled for December 2025. Then all households will be provided with lower energy costs and, a healthier indoor climate. A fine example of how sustainability, comfort and collaboration go hand in hand - for today's residents and tomorrow's world.
