Increasingly sustainable maintenance in province North Holland (The Netherlands)

In province Noord-Holland, BAM and partners manage provincial roads, waterways, and infrastructure across three regions under long-term area contracts, with a strong focus on sustainability. Through close collaboration with the province and innovative measures such as biobased materials, circular processes, and CO2 reduction, maintenance is carried out more efficiently and sustainably. The top 10 measures, including nature-friendly banks, electric equipment, and sustainable asphalt, result in structural improvements. The province aims for a 55% reduction in CO2 emissions and 60% circularity by 2030, working with other authorities to standardise sustainability requirements and share knowledge.
