The climate agreement made it very clear: the energy systems of the future must be sustainable. At the same time, municipalities will need to be able to implement the energy transition.
Our solution? The Wattway: ultra-thin solar panels on road surfaces. A transparent layer of synthetic resin means that traffic can simply drive over them. This is a sustainable way of generating energy while maintaining respect for the landscape, agriculture and nature. The first results from a test carried out in collaboration with the Province of Utrecht on the N401 near to Kockengen has shown that a 50-m2 ‘energy mat’ produces enough energy to supply one household with enough electricity for a year.
