Service Technician at a hospital in the Netherlands: ‘No Two Days Are the Same!’
‘There’s always something happening in the hospital,’ says René. And that becomes clear straight away: even before the conversation has properly started, phones are ringing and notifications are coming in. But it’s exactly that dynamic environment that makes the job so enjoyable for Rick and René. As service technicians at the Zaans Medical Centre (ZMC) in the Netherlands, they experience something new every day.
A Special Partnership
René and Rick sit side by side like brothers in the BAM office at the ZMC. Their partnership is a special one: twelve years ago, when René suffered a cardiac arrest and ended up in the intensive care unit at ZMC, Rick was brought in to temporarily take over his duties. Now, in 2025, they work side by side managing the daily operations and maintenance of the hospital in Zaandam.
