Commissioned by Bajes Kwartier Ontwikkeling CV – a collaboration between area developer AM, AT Capital and Schroders Capital – BAM is constructing the residential tower The Martin in Amsterdam. Recently, the building reached its highest point at 53 metres. This milestone was celebrated on site together with all parties involved. The tower, designed by the architectural firm OMA, is being built on the grounds of the former Bijlmerbajes prison and will offer 103 sustainable owner-occupied apartments.
Bajeskwartier is set to become a vibrant, green urban district where living, working, learning and leisure come together. The homes in The Jay (135 owner-occupied homes) and The Robin (129 owner-occupied homes) have already been completed.
The district will eventually feature 68 gardens, many of which will be open to the public. Several amenities are already open, including secondary school Spinoza20First, Brouwclub Levenslang Amsterdam, Hotel Jansen and Café Jansen. A number of entrepreneurs have also established themselves in the former main building.
