The construction site at Schiphol Plaza has officially opened as part of the redevelopment of the bus station. This milestone marks the beginning of a new phase in the ‘Multimodal Hub Schiphol’ (MKS) project, through which the airport and its partners aim to create a more spacious and comfortable public transport hub and a more attractive area overall.
The new bus station is designed to accommodate the growing number of public transport passengers. The work is being carried out on behalf of Schiphol, in cooperation with, among others, the Amsterdam Transport Region, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer, ProRail and NS.

Three divisions of BAM – Infra Nederland, Specials, and Building and Technology – are working together on the construction of the new bus station at Schiphol. The project forms part of a long-term partnership with the airport. This collaboration is a strong example of how BAM is putting its ‘Building a Sustainable Tomorrow’ strategy into practice: shaping the future, together with partners who share the same ambitions. The work is carried out as emission-free as possible. We use, for example, electric cranes and electric hand tools. Charging points have been installed on site to power this equipment. This results in lower emissions and less inconvenience for travellers.
The new bus station is scheduled to come into operation at the end of 2027.
