Achmea Real Estate and BAM Wonen make 43 BPL Pensioen Homes in Warnsveld (in the Netherlands) more sustainable

On behalf of Achmea Real Estate, BAM Wonen is making 43 rental homes owned by BPL Pensioen in Warnsveld (Gelderland) more sustainable. Uniquely, the project also makes use of hemp cultivated by BPL Pensioen on its own land. The properties, terraced houses built in 1986 and 1989 located on Het Schieven (13 homes) and De Schapendoes (30 homes), are being upgraded from energy label B or C to A or A+. The final home is scheduled for completion by the end of July 2025.

This sustainability upgrade is part of the long-term chain partnership between BAM Wonen and Achmea Real Estate. Since 2016, the two parties have jointly made 1,268 rental properties more sustainable, over 500 of which – since 2022 – are of the same housing type as those in Warnsveld. These 43 homes mark the beginning of a “Gelderland series,” with a further 60 homes in Lochem and Epse planned for later this year.

The measures in Warnsveld will result in an annual gas reduction of approximately 16,240 m³ (–21%) and a CO₂ reduction of over 66,700 kilograms (–44%). And all without increased housing costs: residents benefit from lower energy bills without any rent increases.
