Borssele-Rilland high-voltage connection (in the Netherlands) now in operation

The new 380 kV high-voltage connection between Borssele and Rilland in the southwest of the Netherlands was officially commissioned — an important milestone in strengthening and future-proofing the Dutch electricity grid. BAM Infra Nederland carried out all civil engineering works and accessibility provisions on the western section of this route, on behalf of TenneT.

A crucial link in the energy transition

This connection forms a vital link in the national high-voltage grid. They connect Zeeland, Brabant, and Limburg to the supply of renewable energy from offshore wind farms and the nuclear power plant in Borssele. The new connection doubles the transport capacity and creates room for this growing power flow — crucial for the energy transition and the reliability of the grid.

Sustainability in practice

We continue to pursue sustainability with smart solutions — such as the circular use of sand, where raw materials are reused within the project. In addition, we are working with partners to develop sustainable alternatives for constructing work sites.
