The bus station at Schiphol Plaza is undergoing a major upgrade in the coming years. The first phase of the works is now in full swing. This is being done on behalf of Project MKS β Multimodal Hub Schiphol, a collaboration between the Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management, the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer, the Amsterdam Transport Region, NS, ProRail, and Schiphol. The aim of MKS is to ensure that Schiphol remains a comfortable and safe transport hub for all travellers, with increased capacity to support future growth.

We are committed to carrying out the work as sustainably as possible. We are using electric cranes, electric loaders, and electric hand tools. These powerful and quiet machines help reduce environmental impact and contribute to a cleaner, quieter working environment. Charging points have been installed within the construction site to efficiently power the equipment.
Jeroen Sijtsma, Project Director MKS Bus at BAM, explains:
βItβs fantastic to work on such a dynamic, multimodal hub as Schiphol. We are building while public transport operations continue, meaning passengers are moving around our construction site. At BAM, we are fully committed to sustainable construction. By using electric equipment and smart solutions, we minimise disruption for public transport passengers and reduce environmental impact, all while creating a modern, future-proof bus station at Schiphol Plaza. And thanks to the use of electric machinery, passengers are also exposed to less emissions.β
