From Friday evening 19 September until Monday morning 6 October, BAM Infra Nederland will carry out major maintenance works on the A10 East, between the Watergraafsmeer and Amstel junctions, commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat. These works are an addition to the core maintenance contract BAM secured in 2024 for the A1 and A10 motorways.
A standout innovation in this project is the use of a porous asphalt (ZOAB) surface layer reinforced with fibres, replacing polymer-modified bitumen. By avoiding the use of polymer bitumen, the material can be fully recycled at low temperatures in the future. More importantly, the asphalt mix is produced at approximately 20 degrees lower temperature, which not only delivers immediate sustainability benefits but also creates a healthier working environment for construction site personnel.
Tom van Beekum, Project Manager at BAM Infra Nederland, said:
‘Thanks to thorough preparation and smart engineering, we’re able to complete a large amount of work in a short time. We’re combining speed with quality, ensuring the A10 East will be fit for years to come.’
