BAM recognised for leading efforts against climate change

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 6 February 2024 – For the fifth consecutive year, Royal BAM Group nv has been recognised for leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on its annual ‘A List’.

Based on data reported through CDP’s 2023 Climate Change questionnaire, BAM is one of a small number of companies that achieved an ‘A’ - out of over 21,000 companies scored.

Fully TCFD aligned, CDP holds the largest environmental database in the world, and CDP scores are widely used to drive investment and procurement decisions towards a zero carbon, sustainable and resilient economy. In 2023, over 740 financial institutions with over US$136 trillion in assets requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP’s platform. A record-breaking 23,000 companies responded.

Ruud Joosten, CEO of Royal BAM Group: ‘I am proud that BAM has achieved for the fifth consecutive year a place on CDP’s prestigious A list for climate change. It is one of our key strategic objectives and  a clear illustration of BAM’s ambitious carbon reduction targets and of the progress we made so far. We have delivered a strong year-on-year reduction in our carbon footprint, driven by initiatives, such as electric transport, purchasing green electricity and the use of HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) as a carbon-saving fuel source in an intermediate stage towards the further electrification of construction sites and equipment. We consider it as an incentive for the transparency of our reporting, including insight into climate risks and opportunities for BAM.’
