(News release Scottish Borders Council:) Jedburgh, 13 March 2020 - We have been given the keys to the newly completed Jedburgh Grammar Campus, a project delivered on time and on budget by its development partner Hub South East and main contractor BAM Construction.
As a significant milestone for the project, a photocall was held this week to mark the key handover, with representatives from all parties, as well as councillors, community council, pupils and Jedburgh Grammar’s Headteacher, all of whom got a sneak peek of the new building and gave excellent feedback. We can now prepare the building for pupils and staff to move in next month.
Check out a sneak peek of the new Campus before its opening on our YouTube channel.

In the run up to the opening, we will be providing regular updates on the Jedburgh Grammar Campus
The new Jedburgh Grammar Campus is an innovative learning space which will serve 2-8 year olds, as well as providing further education opportunities and community facilities. It replaces all three schools in the town and will have provision for nursery, primary, secondary and additional support needs pupils. Community facilities include a multi-use games area, 2G hockey pitch, 3G sports pitch, 100m synthetic running track, 300m grass track and gym.
Alongside classrooms, there will be a rural skills area, flexible hall space that can be used for multiple activities such as community events, sport, dance or drama classes and a café.
The public library and contact centre will also be housed in the campus, which aims to cater for all ages of the community in one location.
Councillor Shona Haslam, Leader: ‘The new Jedburgh Grammar Campus is amazing, and the children who saw the facility this week were also blown away with the equipment and facilities on offer such as the sprung floor dance studios and technology rooms. There is also state of the art security measures in place for all children and a range of fantastic sports facilities. I look forward to joining the community as the new campus opens its doors next month.’
Councillor Carol Hamilton, Executive Member for Children and Young People: ‘The new Jedburgh Grammar Campus is a truly inspiring building. With the Council now having the keys, the finishing touches are being made to ensure it is ready to open next month and start to provide significant educational and wellbeing benefits for children, young people, families and the wider community in one location.’
Greig Jamieson, Commercial Director, Hub South East: ‘I’m incredibly proud to have handed the keys of this fantastic inspiring learning space to our partner, Scottish Borders Council and seeing the positive reactions of those visiting for the first time, I’m confident that pupils, staff and local people will find it a real asset to the community of Jedburgh. This project is demonstrable evidence of what can be achieved when the true partnership working ethos of the Hub initiative is embraced. A great deal of work went on in the background between all parties to ensure the design, development and construction of the project could proceed at pace to meet a Spring 2020 deadline set by Scottish Government and we managed this successfully, resulting in the delivery of a modern, high quality, innovative building that meets the intergenerational learning needs of the town.’
Martin Cooper, Construction Director, BAM Construction:
‘Our site team have faced a few unexpected hurdles along the way, but throughout the project we’ve had the full support of both Hub South East and Scottish Borders Council so this really has felt like a partnership in the true sense of the word. We are delighted to leave Jedburgh with such a positive legacy.’
