Bunnik, the Netherlands, 12 September 2018 – Münchner Stadsentwässerung (responsible for the construction, operation and administration of Munich’s sewer system and wastewater treatment plants) has awarded Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG the contract for the construction of two wastewater tunnels in Munich. The contract value is approximately €20 million. Construction works have started recently and Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau expects to complete this project in the spring of 2021.
The two tunnels have a total length of 2,180 metres and will be constructed at 7 to 12 metres below the Landsberger Straße in the west of the city. For this, Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau will use a hydro-shield tunnel boring machine with an external diameter of 3.6 metres. The project also includes the construction of various shafts.
