BAM is proud to once again be a headline sponsor at this year's Digital Construction Week, which showcases how digital technologies and processes are transforming our industry, helping to change the way we work and deliver better outcomes for all.
An exciting programme of BAM speakers
We have speakers from across Royal BAM Group, who will be presenting on both days of the event, covering a variety of topics including virtual reality, the circular economy and AI and smart buildings.
Our speaker schedule is as follows:
- Andrew Pryke, Managing Director, BAM Design and Head of Digital UK
Creating a virtual World
Main Stage @ 11.10am, 18 October
Despite expectations, the uptake of virtual and augmented reality has been less than expected across many sectors. Yet, the construction industry seems to be breaking this trend, with increased adoption of VR & AR during the design, construction & operations phases. Andrew’s session explores why the use of VR is proving so popular & the benefits it offers the design team, clients & end users. He'll discuss future developments such as linking VR to Internet of Things & showcase a live VR demo with colleagues in the Netherlands.
- Nitesh Magdani, Group Director of Sustainability, Royal BAM Group
- Jad Oseyran, Member of IBM Industry Academy, Lead - Global Centre of Competence for Circular Economy IBM Global Business Services
Circular Building Platform - eBay for the Construction Industry; Making 100% Reuse a Reality
Industry 4.0 Stage @ 13.00 on 18 October
Billions of pounds worth of value is lost each year across the built environment, when building components with high reuse potential are processed as waste, undervalued, or recycled at the end of their first use. This is for two main reasons - no information on what is in our buildings and no connection between the supply and demand of reusable materials.
BAM and IBM’s revolutionary new platform addresses these issues and helps to drive forward the circular economy. Known as the Circular Building Platform or CBP, it facilitates reuse within the built environment by creating the construction industry’s own version of eBay, which allows building information to be captured and connects the supply and the demand of reusable materials.
- Menno de Jonge, Director of Digital Construction, Royal BAM Group
BAM's Digital Construction Transformation
Main Conference @ 13.00, 18 October
Menno de Jonge, Royal BAM’s Director of Digital Construction, will explore how digitisation is transforming the construction industry, changing the way we work and allowing us to deliver better outcomes for all stakeholders.
He will discuss BAM’s digital journey and how we are building the present, creating the future. Whilst, also providing a wider perspective, on how digital is disrupting the way the industry does things across the globe.
- Reid Cunningham, Strategic Development Director, BAM FM
AI and the Journey towards Smart Buildings
Industry 4.0 Stage @ 3pm, 19 October
As we create smarter more connected built assets the potential for AI to make informed decisions grows. Rich data can enable us to make smart decisions about the operation and maintenance of our buildings making them more efficient and sustainable helping reduce our carbon emissions and create healthier environments for occupiers. This session will explore the future of smart buildings and the way in which we will manage our built assets through the use of rich data & smart tech.
- Sreelatha Chunduri, Ph.D. Digital Construction Specialist, BAM Infra
A World First: the first fully 3D printed, structurally pre-stressed concrete cycle bridge in the world
Industry 4.0 Stage @ 15.30 on 19 October
This session will look at how BAM Infra has adopted the latest digital technologies and processes to deliver major infrastructure projects across Europe. Sreelatha will discuss how they are creating the world’s first 3D printed, structurally pre-stressed concrete cycle bridge in the Netherlands (pictured above) and how digital is being used to construct the world’s longest rail and road tunnel, the 18km immersed Fehmarnbelt tunnel, which once complete, will connect Denmark and Germany.
