Kill, County Kildare, Ireland, 13 July 2011 – Mayor of Kerry, Councillor Pat Leahy, and Brian Cunningham, BAM Civil director, have signed the contract for the N22 Tralee Bypass Road Improvement Scheme on Friday 24 June. This €97 million bypass connecting the N21, N22, N69 and N70 involves the construction of 8 km of dual carriageway to the East of Tralee and 5.5 km single carriageway link road from the bypass to the N22 Killarney Road.
Works commenced on 15 June with a construction programme of 21 months. Once complete the scheme will greatly relieve traffic congestion in Tralee town and enhance the road transport corridor between Tralee and Killarney. Theo Cullinane, CEO BAM Contractors Ltd, said: ‘This project is a much needed boost for the Tralee community.’
