BAM Construction has cut the first sod at Severn Trent Water's £60 million eco-friendly operations centre in Coventry. It is designed to have one of the lowest carbon footprints of any office in Britain, with low energy use and a central location. The seven-storey building on the site of a former car park in the city centre will house 1,700 staff when it opens.
Birmingham-based Webb Gray Architects and engineering services consultant ESC have worked with Stoford on the sustainable design. Stoford Developments in Coventry is behind the project, which is being built by BAM Construction and supported by Coventry City Council and Advantage West Midlands.
