BAM Civiel and Von Roll Inova are building fourth waste incineration line at AZN Moerdijk

Bunnik, Netherlands, 22 January 2007 – BAM Civiel and Von Roll Inova have won a joint venture contract to construct the fourth waste incineration line at Afvalverbranding Zuid-Nederland (AZN) in Moerdijk (south of Rotterdam). The client is BV Grondbezit AVI Moerdijk. The contract value amounts to €132 million, in which BAM Civiel and Von Roll Inova each have a share of approximately 50%. BAM Civiel and Von Roll Inova also constructed the current AZN installation, which consists of three incineration lines. In addition to BAM Civiel, Siemens Nederland and BAM-sister companies BAM Techniek (M&E), BAM Leidingen & Industrie (piping) and Tebodin (consultancy and engineering) are also involved in the project.

The work officially started last week. The new incineration line will be operational in October 2008.

As a result of the expansion, the capacity of the waste incineration plant will increase by 275,000 tons to 1 million tons of waste per year. The new line is to be equipped with the latest proven waste incineration technologies, flue gas scrubbing and energy production and will therefore amply fulfil the requirements for waste incinerators imposed by the government.
