Longmont, CO, 20 August 2004 - Flatiron Construction's southern California subsidiary FCI Constructors began a newly won $14 million project this week to finalize the closure of a landfill in San Marcos, California.
FCI will put the final touches on the nearly 100 acre site by topping the area with imported soil to facilitate new vegetation growth. FCI will cap the landfill with a minimum of three feet of additional blended soil, totaling about 640,000 cubic yards of fill.
The San Marcos City Council has big plans for the surrounding areas and has voted to convert the old trash and recycling plant warehouses into San Marcos Studios - a movie and television production campus. FCI will complete the closure in about one year, at which time the old landfill site will make way for a new 200,000 square foot office building for the new production facilities.
