HBG Construction Ltd, which is already working on several healthcare projects in the North West, has been awarded a £6.3 million contract for the construction of a new two-storey Oncology Unit at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.
Client for the project is the Alder Hey Rocking Horse Appeal Trust and once completed the building, which is part of an overall £10 million scheme, will be the UK's first ever integrated cancer unit for children. Construction works began last month and completion will be due in February 2003. The scheme includes the demolition of an old school building and then the provision of 2,775 sq.m of floor space over two storeys for the Oncology Unit, the construction of an access roadway, 'New Hospital Street', and parking spaces for 85 vehicles.
