BHD wins land reclamation project in Dubai

BHD (Ballast Ham Dredging) has been awarded the contract for a land reclamation in Port Rashid, Dubai.

The client for this project is Dubai Palm Developers. Total value of the contract amounts to around EUR 40 million. In the presence of the Crown Prince of Dubai and the client’s representatives, trailing suction hopper dredger HAM 317 started the execution of the works immediately by delivering the first load of sand. The project is scheduled for completion in April of 2004.

The project consists of the reclamation of some thirty million cubic metres of sand, to be dredged at sea. BHD will deploy at least three trailing suction hopper dredgers for the job.

At present, the war in Iraq does not influence the execution of projects in the United Arab Emirates. Nevertheless, BHD will of course remain very cautious where the safety of its personnel is concerned.

BHD is a dredging and marine contractor with a focus on infrastructural projects worldwide: land reclamation, construction of coastal airports, coast and shore protection, construction and maintenance of harbours and waterways and offshore-related seabed activities. Ballast Ham Dredging employs 2,200 people in some twenty offices around the world. The company owns a modern and diversified fleet of dredging equipment.
