A milestone in sustainable construction

We are constructing ‘The Bridge’ using the shell of the former Earth Sciences building. In its first phase, the building will accommodate, among others, the Institute for Biodynamics and Biocomplexity (IBB), the Institute of Environmental Biology (IEB), and part of the Bijvoet Centre during the renovation of the Kruyt building. Later, it will house businesses and institutes focused on sustainability. The redevelopment of the existing building, led by Kadans Science Partner as the developer, is of course a prime example of sustainability. By reusing the existing concrete structure, the project saves over 1.4 million kilograms of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to two hundred car journeys around the world.
