On the iconic Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam, VOF PhilHavana and BAM Bouw en Techniek have signed the construction agreement for the De Sax residential complex. VOF PhilHavana – a collaboration between BPD | Bouwfonds Gebiedsontwikkeling and Synchroon – and BAM Bouw en Techniek have thereby officially launched the construction of a unique and sustainable residential building.
De Sax comprises two residential towers, Philadelphia and Havana, which will be connected by a striking ‘golden beam’ high above the ground. The project is a prime example of efficient land use, with 916 homes – half of which are designated as affordable mid-rent housing – and a strong focus on mobility transition and liveability.
Every day, we work on solutions to address major societal challenges such as the housing shortage, the energy transition, and climate change. De Sax is not only adding a new residential building to Rotterdam’s skyline but also contributing to a healthier, more inclusive, and future-proof living environment for everyone.
’With the realisation of De Sax, we are adding a bold and distinctive residential building to the city. For us, it is a great example of how innovative construction methods can enable safe, efficient, and sustainable building in a dynamic urban environment. Together with our partners, we are creating a future-proof residential tower rising 180 metres high – building, quite literally, the Rotterdam of tomorrow,’ says Eric Moleman, Managing Director, BAM Bouw en Techniek – Projecten.
