BAM to lead green £42 million transformation of Wrotham School, Kent

BAM has announced it will deliver the £42 million renovation of Wrotham School in Kent, replacing and upgrading the existing school to provide an additional 265 permanent places from September 2027. A project where BAM is working closely with the Department for Education (DfE) to enhance biodiversity around the school and deliver 200 trees during the preconstruction phase.

The project will include the design and construction of the 7,459 sqm new buildings, alongside smaller refurbishment works. The school will benefit from an enhanced 2,200 sqm outdoor sports and games area to support the children’s physical and mental wellbeing. Improvements are also being made to enhance traffic flow to reduce highways impacts and pupil safety.

Sustainability features across the project includes: hybrid ventilation systems, PV panels generating 312.8kWp to achieve Net Zero Carbon in Operation, and a green roof system. The school also incorporates Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Electric Vehicle Charging Points.
