Hemel Hempstead, 17 December 2020 - BAM Construct UK has secured two significant slots on the new Construction and Minor Works Framework Agreement from NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS). The new Framework will be used by a range of bodies from across the public sector.
Contractors were limited to bidding for two Lots and BAM has been appointed for two national higher value Lots above £15 million: public sector £15 million - £35 million, where BAM is one of eight chosen contractors and public sector £35 million+ where it is one of seven in total.
The Framework’s combined OJEU value is £10.5 billion, and it runs for seven years with two break clauses at the end of years three and five.
BAM’s Chief Executive, James Wimpenny, said: ‘The NHS has a track record of running successful collaborative procurement exercises and it is envisaged that this new Agreement will become the vehicle through which a large proportion of advice is sought and procured by clients. As a company with a long-standing track record in this field, with a leading digital capability and being recognised as the industry’s most collaborative player, we’re natural partners and are delighted we have been trusted with a place on these two excellent Lots. Our range of capabilities cover design, engineering, facilities management, and construction and more, so we are a highly adaptable and versatile partner. That is reflected party by BAM having delivered two of the recent NHS Nightingale hospitals.’
Around two-thirds of BAM’s work comes via frameworks and the public sector.
NHS SBS is an over-arching Framework Alliance Contract operating on ‘open book’ principles, including for supply chains. It covers the UK including England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland for delivering construction works over £2.5 million.
This is a first generation framework to deliver across all public sector markets, with its primary aim being to work collaboratively to achieve value for money for its clients.
All public sector clients may use the framework, including: education, housing, social care, leisure, libraries, blue light, health and social care, offices, transport, military, farms, recycling and waste centres, industrial and commercial buildings and other public sector operational buildings and establishments.
