Kildare, Ireland, 9 April 2018 - Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan TD and Chief Justice Frank Clarke, officially opened Waterford Courthouse today – one of seven courts projects being delivered by BAM Ireland under a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
This refurbished and extended courthouse builds on the original courthouse which dates back to 1849 when it was designed by J B Keane. The total area of the redevelopment is 6,392m² incorporating refurbishment of existing area of 1,133m² and new build of 5,259m² to accommodate six courtrooms, improved custody facilities, court offices and associated facilities.
This project involves the design, construction, finance, operation and maintenance of the courthouses.
Courts in Drogheda, Letterkenny, Limerick and Wexford are now operational while the new and refurbished buildings will open soon in Cork and Mullingar.
