Hemel Hempstead, 12 April 2018 - Two Liverpool firms have been singled out for special praise by one of the UK’s largest contractors.
Reds Joinery, based in Estuary Commerce Park in Merseyside, won the annual health and safety award given by major contractor BAM Construction.
A second contractor, Birkenhead’s Helix Roofing Contractors, yielded a personal award, to Geoff Kenny, for his success in the role of health and safety supervisor.
Reds Joinery worked for BAM in North Wales on its £11.5 million scheme to create new maternity facilities as well as schemes in Manchester for Allied London’s huge commercial development, No.1 Spinningfields, and on Liverpool University’s Materials Innovation Factory.
Helix has worked for BAM on the recently completed Great Sankey Neighbourhood Leisure Centre scheme as well as on the Pavilion building in Manchester.
BAM’s Director for the North West, Ian Fleming, said: ‘Although we deliver some of the UK’s largest and most complex projects, we reply on our subcontractors and our relationships with them to help us keep everybody on site safe, and to raise the bar on the quality of the work we do. In Liverpool, our recent work has been for Unilever in Port Sunlight, for our work with the University and with Aintree Hospital. It’s vital to our success that we manage our supply chain fairly, pay them on time, and involve them in our management processes to get the best from them. And that’s why we celebrate their success.’
