Rotterdam / Bunnik, the Netherlands, 25 October 2018 - Construction has started on The Zalmhaven residential project in the former harbour area of Rotterdam (Scheepvaartkwartier) at the foot of the Erasmus bridge.
The project, developed by The Zalmhaven CV joint venture, comprises three residential buildings with a combined 485 apartments and homes, retail space and parking facilities. The first homes will be completed in 2022.
Zalmhaven CV is a joint venture between area and project developer AM (part of Royal BAM Group nv) and developer and investment manager Amvest. The project will be built by BAM Bouw en Techniek.
The Zalmhaven residential project includes a 215-metre high-rise tower (designed by Diederik Dam of Dam & Partners Architecten) which will house 256 apartments, and two 70-metre towers (designed by Kees Kaan of KAAN Architecten).
The lower towers, which are partly located along the new public park at the Gedempte Zalmhaven will house 196 apartments and 33 single-family homes. These will serve both private ownership and rental sectors. In addition to housing, there will be a large shared roof garden for residents, a parking garage and possibly a restaurant with a view over Rotterdam.
The sale of the first privately owned homes starts at the end of November. Amvest will acquire all 200 private sector rental properties for the investment portfolio of one of its clients.
