Bunnik, the Netherlands, 29 October 2018 – BAM Lux, a subsidiary of BAM’s Walloon operating company Galère, has won a contract in joint venture with Victor Buyck Steel Construction for the construction of a new bridge in Ettelbrück. The client is the Luxembourg Ministry of Infrastructure (Ministère du Développement durable et des Infrastructures). BAM’s share amounts to €8 million.
The project includes the construction of a 185-metre long bridge, crossing the Sure River and a railway line. The road bridge, which is named after the legendary American General Patton, is supported by abutments and two steel pillars. Almost 1,100 tons of heavy superstructure cast in corten steel is pre-built on one river bank and then launched to the other side via the pillars and auxiliary pillars.
The works also include constructing cable ducts and a diver under the river and railway line.
The BAM Lux-Victor Buyck Steel Construction joint venture expects to compete the bridge in the spring of 2021.
