Kill, County Kildare, 11 July 2012 - BAM Rail McCann JV have been award the £16 million contract from Translink to upgrade the railway line between Derry and Coleraine. BAM McCann JV are responsible for the construction of the track relay between Coleraine and Castlerock and Eglinton and Derry. The project will commence on 29 July and run until April 2013.
The extensive engineering project will also include the installation of new drainage, new ducting for signalling cables, the overhaul of the Bann Bridge and reconstruction of Pottagh Bridge. This contract is a major part of the Translink’s Colerine to Derry track renewals projects, which is being funded by a £50 million investment for the UK Department for Regional Development (DRD).
