Bolton, 2 September 2011 - Bolton Council has selected its preferred bidder for the building work on Kearsley Academy.
BAM won the contract for the work having presented an impressive set of proposals. The company beat off competition from Balfour Beatty to become the selected bidder.
The academy will benefit from a complete rebuild, with work scheduled to begin in December, and expected to be completed by March 2013.
BAM’s plans for Kearsley will be on show at the academy on Thursday, September 8, between 4pm and 7.30pm.
Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Children’s Services, Councillor Nick Peel, said: ‘The plans put forward were really impressive, and will create an excellent learning environment for the academy’s students. I am looking forward to seeing the plans become reality.’
Roger Alston, of Kearsley Academy’s sponsors, Northern Education, and Chair of the Governing Body, said: ‘It was a very difficult choice between the two companies, as both were excellent and had worked really hard, but BAM’s plans just had the edge, it’s a truly outstanding building. I’m really looking forward to working with them and seeing the plans come to fruition.’
