BAM to build new port in Jordan

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 14 December 2011 – BAM International, the operating company of Royal BAM Group active outside Europe, has been awarded a contract to construct a new port in Jordan, approximately 15 miles south of Aqaba, close to the border of Saudi Arabia. Client is Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC). The contract value for BAM amounts to approximately €50 million. The construction of the new port will take 24 months, starting January 2012.

Together with its Jordanian joint venture partner MAG, BAM is responsible for the design and construction of four new berths (in total approximately 800 metres quay wall), revetment works, a breakwater, marine services, pontoons and a slip way. Furthermore land reclamation and dredging works (800,000 m3) as well as the construction of two intake pipes and one outfall pipe is included in the scope of work.

BAM is currently working in Aqaba, Jordan, to construct the extension of the ACT container terminal (ADC and APMT), 15 miles north of the new project.
