Bunnik, The Netherlands, 10 February 2010 - The European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) has elected Prof. G.J. Maas, director of Strategy at Royal BAM Group nv, as its chairman. Ger Maas succeeds Michel Cote, Deputy CEO of Bouygues Construction.
ECTP has more than 120 member organisations (large construction companies, universities, research centres, social organisations). The platform was established in 2004 in order to establish a long-term vision and strategic agenda for research and development in the European construction industry. ECTP has identified seven separate areas of focus: underground construction, cities and buildings, quality of life, construction materials, networks, cultural heritage, and processes and ICT.
Recently, the activities of ECTP have resulted in E2B (Energy Efficient Buildings), an extensive PPP project between the European Commission and the industry aimed at making existing buildings and homes more energy efficient.
Professor Maas has been chairman of the European Network of Construction Companies for Research and Development (ENCORD) since 2008 and is also chairman of the Dutch knowledge group DeltaNeth.
