BAM Construction has been appointed to build a new £10 million Software Centre in Sunderland. The 4,900 sq m (53,000 sq ft) development would include space for 60 cutting-edge businesses, as well as exhibition space, showing visitors in a fun and interactive way the role software plays in their lives. It is designed to be a centerpiece for Sunderland Software City, the regional initiative inspiring and supporting the growth of the local software industry. Subject to planning permissions, work on the building could begin early next year and be completed in early 2012.
