Bunnik, The Netherlands, 13 August 2009 - BAM Deutschland AG (Royal BAM Group's German operating company, which specialises in non-residential projects) has been awarded the turnkey contract to build a ministry complex in Stuttgart to house several government departments of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. The contract value is over €50 million. BAM Deutschland will complete this project for the client, Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg gGmbH, in mid 2011.
The ministry building (33,000 m2) has been designed by Staab Architekten GvAmbH of Berlin and will provide accommodation for the Home Department and parts of the departments for the Environment and Regional Development. In all, the state has approximately 3,300 civil servants spread over more than twenty sites, and the state government is keen to concentrate its staff in just a few locations. The BAM Deutschland project will have a special emphasis on incorporating sustainable energy concepts and will produce a building that uses forty per cent less energy than the consumption standards set out in the German Energy Saving Regulation of 2007.
