Bunnik, The Netherlands, 8 December 2009 - BAM Construction Ltd has been awarded the contract to realise Network Rail's new national centre in Milton Keynes (situated eighty kilometre north of London). The contract value for BAM Construction is in excess of €75 million (£75 million). Network Rail's national centre will house up to 3,000 employees. The proposed building is scheduled to open in 2012. It will be located near Milton Keynes' central railway station on the site of the former National Hockey Stadium.
The national centre - designed by GMW Architects of London - is 40,000 sq m and will be one of the most sustainable office buildings of the United Kingdom. The environmental features will include living roofs, a rainwater harvesting system to flush toilets, new environmentally sustainable building materials and plans to recycle material from National Hockey Stadium
