Royal BAM Group achieved a net profit of €137.0 million in 2006 (2005: €153.3 million), with €68.5 million in the fourth quarter. As reported by BAM at the end of November 2006, the net profit for 2006 suffered a serious negative impact as a result of the loss of the former German non-residential construction company Wayss & Freytag Schlüsselfertigbau. The profitability of other activities continued to increase during 2006. Property developer AM also contributed substantially to profits in 2006.
The turnover of the Group increased by 16% to approximately €8.6 billion (2005: €7.4 billion). This growth was partly the result of the financial consolidation of AM as at 1 February. Autonomous growth in turnover amounted to more than 8%. Activities in the United Kingdom and the United States increased particularly strongly.
