German tunnel specialist BAM wins two tunnelling contracts in Austria

Bunnik, Netherlands, 11 December 2007 - Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau - the German tunnel specialist of Royal BAM Group nv - has won a contract (in joint venture with Held & Francke and Habau) for the construction of the Hengsberg tunnel with a length of approximately 1.7 kilometre near Koralm. The tunnel is part of the new high-speed railway line between Graz and Klagenfurt in Austria. The contract includes also the construction of three escape shafts, six kilometre railroad embankment and several other elements of civil engineering works. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau is leading the consortium. The total contract value amounts to approximately € 75 million.

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau won also (in joint venture with Oestu-Stettin and Hinteregger) a contract for the construction of the Lilienberg tunnel near Völkermarkt in the Austrian federal state Carinthia. The Lilienberg tunnel is approximately one kilometre long. The total contract value for the construction of this tunnel, including 600 metres escape tunnels, amounts to €18 million. Wayss & Freytag will complete the Lilienberg tunnel by the end of 2009.
