BAM Deutschland to build football stadium and multi-functional sports complex
Bunnik, Netherlands, 9 November 2007 – BAM Deutschland AG (the German operating company of Royal BAM Group, specialising in non-residential building projects) won a contract for the construction of a football stadium in Augsburg and for a multi-functional sports complex in Ludwigsburg. The joint contract value is over €85 million.
Under contract to FC Augsburg, HBM Stadien- und Sportstättenbau, a subsidiary of BAM Deutschland, will build a football stadium capable of accommodating 30,000 spectators. The design produced by Bernard & Kögl Architekten in Augsburg allows for an expansion to a maximum of 49,000 spectators. After a construction period of 20 months, the stadium in Augsburg, near Munich, will be delivered in the summer of 2009. The contract value is over €43 million.
BAM Deutschland is building a multi-functional sports arena with a capacity of 7,000 seats for the City of Ludwigsburg, located close to Stuttgart. The hall will become the home base for the EnBW Ludwigsburg basketball club. The project also includes the construction of a parking garage, a 128-room hotel, an office with a sports academy and the western entrance to the Ludwigsburg train station. The project, with a contract value of €42 million, is expected to be completed in September 2009.
BAM has extensive experience in the construction of stadiums. HBM Stadien- und Sportstättenbau is currently building the O2 World multi-functional sports arena in Berlin and a new football stadium for Dynamo in Dresden. Two football stadiums are being built in South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in cooperation with its sister company Interbeton.
