Ascon, the Irish operating company of Royal BAM Group, was awarded the contract for the construction of the Sligo Inner Relief Road in northwest Ireland.
The project comprises the construction of a 4.65km length of dual carriageway road in both a rural and urban environment. The first 3.6km of the road extends from the existing Sligo Collooney Dual Carriageway to Summerhill. This section is through a rural environment and includes 2 grade-separated junctions. There are three bridge structures on this section. The final 1.05km of the route is through an urban environment, linking into four existing road junctions and finally the Michael Hughes Bridge.
