High hazard suspension bridge project wins award for extraordinary safety record
FCI Constructors/Cleveland Bridge California, the joint venture team for the New Carquinez Suspension Bridge in Crockett, California, won the Associated General Contractors of California award for First Place for Excellence in Safety on a High Hazard Job.
The project team achieved an outstanding safety record of zero lost-time incidents during the entire 2003 year, working over 222,000 man-hours to construct two, 430-foot-tall towers and successfully lift, suspend, and connect 24 deck sections (averaging 600 tons each) for the New Carquinez Bridge roadway. FCI Constructors is the subsidiary in the California and western US market of the US operating company of Royal BAM Group.
