Nuttall and HBG Construction to forge closer links

Bunnik, Netherlands, 20 April 2004 – Royal BAM Group is strengthening the position of its UK companies by bringing closer together its civil engineering and construction operations to provide further added value through investment, project and service delivery.

Both Edmund Nuttall and HBG Construction currently occupy leading positions within their sectors and employ over 4,000 staff in the UK. The combined annual turnover of the companies and their subsidiaries exceeds £1.2bn which represents a major commitment by Royal BAM Group to the UK market, accounting for almost 25 per cent of the Group turnover.

While maintaining focus on their separate disciplines and retaining their company names, the combination of the capabilities of the two companies will offer the market a comprehensive range of high performance skills and resources across the total construction sector.

Peter Brooks, currently CEO of Edmund Nuttall, is appointed Executive Chairman of both companies.

The organization will link back to Royal BAM Group in Holland through the existing main board member, Adrian Franklin.

As a result of these changes Brian May leaves HBG Construction with the best wishes of the Group.  He was appointed CEO 2½ years ago and has further consolidated the company’s position in the UK market.

Royal BAM Group ranks among the largest construction firms in Europe. The Group is market leader in the Netherlands and group companies have acquired significant market positions in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Germany and the United States. Royal BAM Group has a workforce of 27,000 and expects to achieve a turnover of approximately €7 billion in 2004.
