Flatiron subsidiary FCI wins $32 million California highway contract

April 21, 2004 – FCI Constructors Southern Division was awarded a $32 million contract near San Diego, California to construct additional lanes and bridges and to provide access to High Occupancy Vehicle lanes along Interstate 15 near Rancho Bernardo.

FCI will utilize over 8,000 cubic yards of concrete to build the new bridges and 8,800 cubic yards of concrete for retaining walls. FCI will also construct over 47,000 square feet of mechanically stabilized earth walls, install over a mile of storm drain pipe, and install both steel piling and cast-in-drilled-hole piling.

This project is close to three other FCI projects along the I-15 corridor in San Diego County that are currently under construction. Construction activities for the newly acquired project, commissioned by the California Department of Transportation, are anticipated to begin at the end of May of this year.
