Longmont, Colorado, 6 October 2004 – Flatiron Construction Corp. earned Colorado Construction magazine's Gold Hard Hat award in the concrete category for construction of a bridge over I-25 north of Denver, Colorado. Flatiron accepted the award Wednesday morning during a ceremony at the Lakewood Country Club.
The winning project - Community Center Drive Overpass - crosses Interstate 25 to connect the eastern and western portions of Northglenn. The McGraw Hill publication recognized Flatiron's innovative use of concrete, which served both structural and decorative purposes. The panel of judges evaluated projects on design quality and innovation, craftsmanship, contribution to the industry, unique design, meeting construction challenges, and overall excellence.
