Metro line in Cologne

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau is a partner in the joint venture that has been awarded the contract to build a section of Cologne’s North/South Metro Line.

The contract is worth 385 million euros, with a share in excess of 128 million euros for W&F Ingenieurbau. The client is Kölner Verkerhrs-Betriebe AG. Phase 2 of the North/South Line extends over a distance of 3,260 metres beneath the densely built-up centre of Cologne. The project involves the construction of seven metro stations and twin, single-track metro tunnels almost 2,500 metres long. By 2010 an estimated 100,000 passengers a day will be using the line. www.nord-sued-stadtbahn.de
