Breakwater in Cameroon

Interbeton, the international operating company of Royal BAM Group, has been awarded the design and construct contract for construction of the breakwater for Limbe Shipyard in Cameroon. The contract value amounts to 27 million euros. Client is Chantier Naval et Industriel du Cameroun S.A. The project consists of a design and construct 700-metre long breakwater in 15 metre deep water.

The construction of the breakwater consists of a rock structure with a concrete capping / road on top. A total of one million tonnes of rock and 7,600 m³ of concrete have to be placed over a period of approximately two years. The breakwater is the first phase in the construction of a new port; further consisting of a 400-metre long quay wall, dredging works, buildings and infrastructure.  Interbeton schedules to start the design and mobilisation at the end of 2003.
