DMC developed new wave protection for breakwaters and shores

Gouda, the Netherlands - Delta Marine Consultants (DMC), part of Koninklijke BAM Groep nv, has been developing an innovative interlocking armour unit, designed to protect breakwaters and shores. The Xbloc, as it is called, is a robust and reliable breakwater armour unit.

The new armour unit has a  hydraulic stability comparable to other reputable single-layer armour units, but an improved structural integrity. In addition, the Xbloc units offer high cost savings as a result of lower concrete use and straight forward positioning requirements.

The Xbloc has been developed by a team of coastal engineers of DMC. It was tested extensively at Delft Hydraulics in the Netherlands and other hydraulic laboratories, with positive results. The Xbloc is a registered trademark.

Delta Marine Consultants offers consultancy, project management and engineering design services to clients world-wide. DMC, which is celebrating its 25th year of existence, has extensive experience in the areas of coastal & river, port & harbour, offshore, infrastructure and industry.
