Even the tiling contractors have nearly finished work on Ireland's National Aquatic Centre. Rohcon, part of HBG Ascon, is building the swimming pool complex on the outskirts of Dublin under a DBFO contract –design, build, finance and operate.
Operation will be the responsibility of Waterworld, which already manages several waterparks in the United States. The 50-metre competition pool and the diving pool are both equipped with movable floors. In the adjacent leisure pool, however, it is the water that is in motion, especially in the Flow Rider and in the bubble bay. Rohcon is due to hand over the project – contract value €62 million – at the end of this year.
