Vibrationless pile-driving beside Crystal Palace

HBG Civiel is constructing the foundations for the extension to Heerlen's 'Crystal Palace', in the south of the Netherlands. This listed building is to be turned into a cultural centre. The foundation comprises a soldier pile wall of 209 cased screw piles.

Below the foundation, a further 65 cased screw piles are being driven. This pile-placing method does not cause any vibrations, which might otherwise damage the building. The soldier pile wall is being tied back with 51 temporary grout anchors.
